Lugg Green Road has been closed by Balfour Beatty until 24 December 2019. For the latest status please go to Herefordshire Council’s roadworks map.
Ward Cllr. Bowen has provided the following information on the road closure:
“Having informed Balfour Beatty of my concerns regarding a large sink hole on the verge of the road between the two entrances to the Day House Farm on Lugg Green Road; Balfour Beatty did a comprehensive check on the site and have confirmed that it is a badger sett that goes under the road and has badly undermined it. The carriageway could collapse at any time and perhaps we have been lucky that it has not done so, up to now. This is the reason for the road closure. Please respect this road closure and do NOT go through the barriers and cross the road. You may regret it. Diversion signs will be in place. As badgers are a protected species, Natural England has to be informed and they are very fussy and it can take ages before they allow works. I hope it won’t take too long but it might. I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything. Best wishes, Sebastian.”
